Max wasn't really the outdoor sportsman type and John, his boss, was more observant than he seemed, but Max was slowly relaxing into his role at the Outer Limits. He kept glancing over at the rock climbing wall, tempted to give it a try ( Read more... )

Dean stepped inside the shop and stopped when he noticed the kid on the climbing wall. "Seriously? People do that for fun?"

John looked over at Dean with a low chuckle. "Someone might say the same thing about what you like to do." And by you, John meant them and hunting.

"Hunting a wendigo is a hell of a lot more fun than climbing a wall." He smirked over at his dad. "You gonna give it a try?"

Kyle had never seen rock climbing equipment. He had climbed various rocks in the past, but not ones so steep that needed rope. He watched on with slight fascination.

Max hadn't used his abilities to help him, mainly because he wanted to see if he could do it on his own, but mostly because Max knew that John saw a lot more than he seemed to see.

He reached the top with a small smile of satisfaction, and breathing really hard. With a push, Max jumped back into space and repelled to the bottom. Sadly, he misjudged the distance and had to cartwheel his arms to stop from landing on his bottom even with the harness and rope. He could feel the heat rise on his skin with embarrassment.

Kyle could almost feel the same emotions that the boy he watched went through. While his face didn't turn color at the fall, Kyle did feel some fort of embarrassment tight in his belly. He would have probably done the same thing.

"That looks really hard," He commented quietly.

Max turned his head and felt his face flush more when he saw he'd been seen then laughed self-consciously. "It's harder than it looks coming down." He acknowledged and began unbuckling the harness.

"Do you want to try? It's really safe." Max smiled slightly, "the harness really works." As he could attest.
