I was completely unaware that my last post was the first hated_character post of 2009.
 Here's to a year free of bashing!

Also, my list of favorite characters that get the short end of the fandom stick. Keep in mind I haven't been in fandom for five years mostly because I was scared off from bashers and mean people in general.

Yay for Tifa and Aeris! Tidus and Yuna, too. ~<3 *just started FFX the other day*

And of course Relena. She's my favorite Gundam chick in the whole franchise. In her own way she was so strong and awesome. It's too bad a lot of people who proclaimed her to be the scum of the Internet got their opinion of her via badfic, or the first five episodes. :( They gotta watch Endless Waltz, dangit!

Relena was the only character who held my interest way back when I started watching Gundam Wing. And Quatre. I blame the hormones. I didn't even think that anyone would hate her... I thought GW was so boring at first, but the second time I watched it, I hated Heero a bit less and loved Relena even more.

I'm actually almost done with FFX but I just wanna see the ending for myself. I hate how people think that Tidus and Yuna are the biggest whiners in the Final Fantasy franchise. Tidus may have complained, only because he was used to the celebrity lifestyle. You'd be angry, too, if your father treated you like dirt and you've had to live in his shadow. I really liked Yuna in that spring scene, because she had so much pressure on her, that she needed to break down because she thought she couldn't do it. Everyone needs a little encouragement in their lives. My favorite quote: "Ronso strong. Yuna even stronger."

I pretty much completely agree with your Final Fantasy lists. ESPECIALLY Rinoa and Yuna. OMFG BACK OFF OF THEM, PEOPLE. I get so so soooo tired of everyone bashing the hell out of those two girls. WHEN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. No, really. They are LOVELY. Rinoa is my number one favorite character in anything ever. So yeah, I get a little defensive of her. ;)

And I could really go into a long spiel about all the talk about Yuna being "weak". Really, I get massively wordy there. But I don't want to spoil you, since you haven't finished the game. But she is completely undeserving of the hate she gets.

And also, Ashe. I swear to Yevon, next person to tell me what a bitch she is ... I'm gonna go postal. And Penelo, well, Penelo just needs more love in general. I adore her. :D

I remember someone saying "Yuna is the EPITOME of Sue". I haven't played FFX-2 yet, but if she wants to sing, then that's her perogative. Lots of people adore her because she's a summoner. That also means she has a lot of rivals to deal with. She may not be able to wield a sword like Auron, but it takes a lot of mental strength to use magic and summon beasts.

I didn't realize Ashe was hated until now (I avoid pretty much any wank like the plague--I have severe social anxiety that not only hurts me IRL, but online. I'd hate to stumble upon an anti-site or my old works being MSTed or flamed). She actually rivals Rinoa as my favorite Final Fantasy character. Penelo is absolutely adorable. I hope she doesn't get as much hate as Ashe.

Oh, hey, Rinoa and Ashe are my top two favorites too. And yeah, sadly, Ashe gets a lot of hate. I don't know how far into the game you are, so I don't want to spoil you, but apparently, you know, losing everything and being betrayed aren't good enough reasons to be a little ... standoffish, if you will. Sure, Ashe isn't a sunshine and puppy dogs kinda princess, but she's not a heartless monster, either. And some people treat her like she is.

I don't understand it. *shrugs* Ashe is fantastic, in my book! I want to be like her. :)

I get a little ticked when people bash Rinoa too. Actually, I find the entire cast of FFVIII to be underrated, but Rinoa's the one who seems to get the most flak. And I found her to be one of the best characters in the game. I mean, she's so fun and pretty and awesome and stuff....

And Yuna's one of the spiritually strongest video game heroines ever. She's the real hero of FFX. 'Nuff said.

You can't really be done with Pokémon, at least the anime, considering it's still on the air and going strong. Also, Meowth is LOVED, although that took a tragic turn last month when his most-noted English VA died (she'd been replaced a few years ago when the show changed companies, but she was very popular and people kept saying she WAS Meowth--including herself at some points).

And as far as Pikachu goes, the Mascot Hate has shifted to Piplup. And the only people who really hate Jesse are those who hate Team Rocket. Those who like the Team/the TRio like her as well...although since she's had a character shift, people tend to be more WORRIED about her.

I know it'll probably go on forever. I'm waiting for the day when there's 1,000 Pokémon, j/k. I've read about that on Serebii.net (I dare not go to the forums), however, I've heard some comments IRL about him being annoying and having a terrible dub voice. His japanese voice sounds MUCH worse, IMO. I've noticed that some of the people who hate him tend to be very anti-Rocket. I'm more into the games rather than the show, though.

Really? That's unfortunate. I also think Piplup is simultaneously loved. Some random people at the mall fangirled over this one guy's Piplup hoodie that he made himself. There's even a Piplup shrine at this one forum I used to go to.

I think with Pikachu and Piplup it's not so much their species as it is Ash's Pikachu and Dawn's Piplup. Which is probably for the best--I like those species but I don't like those two individuals.

I should have figured as much. I wish people would actually mention whether or not they mean a specific one or the general species. I actually like Ash's Pikachu, but not Ash himself, though that may change. I thought Pikachu and Meowth's interactions were just adorable.

Bashing in the Sonic fandom is HORRIBLE. I'm so glad I left. Amy was always my favorite and I fell in love with Chris. Big, Charmy Bee, Silver... those poor guys XD

And Pikachu! I can't get enough of that sassy lil' guy.

I would love to hear a May-lover's opinion on May, because I've found myself having trouble remembering what was interesting about her, since I've been so faggy about Dawn~
