So.

There's this: You only see it happen to her once in freshman year right before lunch, but by the time English comes around she's clean in brand new clothes and her face betrays nothing.

(You never say a word to her that year.

And you never hear her speak outside of class.)

And then there's this: Your crush has been long gone for years but still: this is Rachel Berry. She'll always be a little bit out of your reach in someways. As she leads you down the streets of New York talking a mile a minute those ways seem to matter less and less.

And then there's me clapping my hands in pure and unadulterated delight because this is the best. You go, Guitar Guy. You go. I love how he transitions into a behind the scenes guy to someone who actually steps out and is a full fledge character who both knows her and wants to know her. And kind of knows her in a much different way than everyone else.

This is perfect, dude.

a) HOW DID I NEVER ANSWER THESE COMMENTS. Who am I??? But just incase you weren't aware of it before I love you for this fic. Really, as much as I love them, I consider them your baby so I'm so happy that you liked it. SO HAPPY. Still, weeks later bc really, how did I not answer these?

I love Ben! I love how Ben just likes her and there's no drama behind it.

Okay. I'm good. I think I'm okay now.

This fic! THIS FIC! It is perfect. I have not grinned and nodded and screamed and clapped and laughed so hard for a fic in such a long time. There is so much that is great about this - the characterization for Ben is just so subtle, so smooth, that I didn't feel like it was reaching for anything that wasn't believable. It was easy to see him in the background, easy to imagine the reactions and the interpretations because we have been there, watching Rachel do all of this.

AND UGH I JUST WANT TO DROWN IN THIS FIC, OKAY?

I'm sorry, I'm emotional, I can't give normal reviews. There was so much that was so good. I will go back and pick out lines if I must but You don't even like Bon Jovi! is always and forever my fav.
