Author’s Note: Ichigo’s position of having his arms outstretched is a refence to his line, “Woo't drink up eisel?” which is itself a reference to how the soldiers mocked Christ on the cross by offering up a sponge soaked in vinegar to drink, when he said he was thirsty. At last - another Shakespeare buff! I didn't catch that reference either, but what I did do to that play was write my own version of the passage "to be or not to be" for my English Lit. class years ago in highschool. It ended up being "to work or not to work."

And I agree - if anyone can do intense, it'd be Ichigo.

I was a Medieval Studies major in college so Shakespeare is my bud. Chaucer, too. And a whole bunch of other obscure medieval authors. So the opportunity to apply Hamlet to Bleach was nigh-irresistible.

I am going to have to write more ficlets that showcase this fact. Ichigo reciting the "what light through yonder window breaks" bit (as Orihime swoons), Ichigo as Caliban, as Bottom, as ANYONE. [geek love]
