I despise it when people lie TO ME. I doubt that anyone likes to be lied to... whether someone is Hawaiian or not. This is a human issue. Anyway this is what I told Jere last:

Yup that is the definition. However, when you click on the link and go one entry down they have the definition of Native Hawaiian. I hate that definition. It spices things more than they should be. This is why I hate the whole "blood-quantum" thing. You said it best, it's in the bones.

I'm not surprised that Jere lied. He doesn't realize the difference or doesn't want to acknowledge the difference between Oiwi and being a Hawaii State Citizen.

As for the nation... it is my opinion that Natives Hawaiians suffered more from the Overthrow than any other group of Hawaiian Nationals. That is why it is important to support the people. I don't know if there are folks who put one before the other, or why they would. They go hand in hand.
