And my parents have plans to go to Hatteras this weekend...which they are stubbornly holding onto. I snicker, because seeing the satellite pictures I don't think it's happening. That road in floods SO easy. Stay safe love.

And wtf on no alcohol?? How can you survive a hurricane with no power AND no alcohol? Evil fuckers just don't want people having any babies in 9 months. THINK OF THE BABIES!!!! *snicker*

Apparently the authorities took James J. Lee's manifesto to heart and want to prevent the breeding of disgusting human babies.

I think the NWS actually issued a warning about that: High risk of drunken, unprotected hurricane sex. Babies may occur in your area.

Well, I'm pretty sure they've reopened Hwy 12 on Hatteras by now...I'm sure they busted their ass on that one, especially with in being Labor Day weekend.
They'll probably have a good weekend for it, other than being a little colder than usual.
That's the weird thing about these storms (especially the fast moving ones that don't cause a lot of flooding)...
The day before, perfect weather.
The day after, perfect weather.
Nature is fucking weird.

And man, I tried to tell everyone...When the coasties issue "Port Condition Whiskey," it means it's time to stock up.
They rarely issue mandatory evacuations for Camden Co. though so, I can go to a gas station 5 miles east and can't but booze--5 miles west, I can stock the entire fridge.
I swear, the whole point is to frustrate idiot tourists who decide to experience what primitive locals refer to as a "hurricane party." ;)

This is the first I've heard of the corpse bracelets. Great idea, given that dental records might be hard to come by or moot. Do take care of yourself!

As far as I know they've never done it in my county.

However, since Ocracoke Island is accessible only by a ferry that usually stops running about 48 hours before a major storm and emergency personnel evacuates as well, it's a regular occurrence.
Less frequently, it happens on Hatteras since the only access since the Bonner bridge and Hwy 12 are almost always respectively impossible to navigate/washed out.

Occasionally Hwy 12 is outright destroyed...like in Isabel.
Neat side note: Isabel also briefly made Hatteras into two islands by creating a new inlet...don't know if you've ever seen it before ( ... )

Love you too, baby!
I wish you could have been here (actually thought that while I was on the beach).
I know you would have appreciated it as much as we did. :)
Check out my (very few) photos and video when you get a chance.
