Meanwhile, Sam is dying inside, waiting for Dean to touch him. We need a Sam pov companion for this!

Which means, I like it a lot. It emphasizes the forbidden aspect and makes it clear the feeling's mutual, without going OTT.

I'm glad you liked it!

I think we get a sense of what Sam's feeling, and that it's far clearer to the reader than to Dean. That just makes the pangs all the greater, doesn't it?

It is-- though Sam is the reason he can't stop trying. He's so convinced he's damaging his little brother that he can't fully see what's right there in front of him.
