I'd been on the fence about reading this series until now. After this rec for it, I'm going to have to go hunt it down. Thanks!

I picked up the first book the year it came out as a "if I have to travel, I might as well have something to mock" book. Instead, when I finished, I shipped it back to my sister who passed it my father, who sent it on to the oldest of my baby cousins. I don't recommend things to my sister often--at the time, the last book I'd done so for was Good Omens and both of us rarely pass things on to Dad. So for it to make the rounds the way it did? Only the most amusing or most well-written books actually do so.

(Not going to lie: Percy Jackson is hysterical. Not always completely well-written, but hysterical.)

...there's Percy Jackson fanfic? I'd seen a couple at Yuletide but not elsewhere. Yay, thank you, I'll check them out.

With any luck the movie might expand the fandom somewhat, at least if it's good.
