Darter the Chronicler has some absolutely amazing photos featuring two gentles' transformation into their Elizabethan garb, complete with facepaint. One is Baron Christos, I believe, and I'm not sure who the other is. Fantastic images, though.

That's a good question. The makeup Christos (with the long black hair) is wearing looks accurate for that period, but I'm not so sure about the other gentle. Then again, the other gentle is wearing a more heavily Spanish outfit, and Spanish fashion tended to be very dramatic in a darker kind of way. So - I'd say Christos' makeup is accurate; I'm not sure about the other. It's possible, but you're right, it's *too* dramatic.
