the seer, the lion, the book and the girl

I think it'll take some time to figure out why A Lion Among Men nearly reduced me to tears, but for now, it just did. And pawing through the previous books only amplified the feeling.

It's a fake-out, this one. It's the Lion's story, yes, but it's this story's history, too.

Really? I had a really hard time caring about the characters. It felt scattered to me in general. I'm glad you like it though. It made me very, very sad that I didn't.

It was a little scattered, definitely. It's not a perfect book. But once I realized who the girl with the clock was - that didn't take long! - then I kept trying to remember what happened in Son of a Witch, and then things started all connecting and ... I love stories where that happened. And I didn't care much for the Lion, but I liked the way everyone else's story wrapped around his, and the way Maguire explored the idea of cowardice.

But I loved the last book, too, so maybe I'm just hopeless! :)

Well, I really loved Son of Witch--it's my favorite of the three. I think I was just disappointed that the plot diverged so much from what was going on there...I guess, yeah, maybe I just didn't like the Lion...and I know have the possibility be coherent but not right now.

I love that you loved it! I feel like a lot of people were really indifferent to that one. And yeah, I did really, really, really want Liir and his daughter to turn up at some point in this one, but ... I guess I just took away hope that there'll be a fourth book - and it won't be forever before he writes it. :)
