Has it really been 29 weeks?

Hmmm. I logged onto LJ today and it's been 29 weeks since I posted! Thanks so much LJ, for the guilt-inducing reminder. I seriously don't know where my brain has been. I think the fact that I work with people these days rather than a computer means that I don't get online that often but it's no excuse for not catching up with all of you ( Read more... )

Give her my love, and take some for yourself. Sorry to miss the tawdriness and debauchery... we'll have to make up for it another time.

Back at ya. If you were there though, I think you could take the debauchery up a few notches...

Moi? I'll have you know I'm as chaste as... as... um... Sir Francis Dashwood?

Great to hear from you! I was just wondering today what was going on with you and here you are! (Not that this was the first time in 29 weeks I'd wondered, heh).

I like the idea of 'wedding as cosplay' but now I'm imagining a Sailor Moon flower girl, hee! And here's hoping for tasteful tawdriness!

Good to know the business is doing well, and hoping that the rising interest rates don't have too much of an impact. I'm also hoping that someday (soon) you get to come over here and give classes! Because we miss you. And we'll be thinking of you in Vancouver this June.

Vancouver in June? I had been planning to come to the States in June/July but with my siter's wedding in early July, that idea had to be dropped. I'm still thinking of trying to make it to the East Coast in July but I'll let you know.

Nice to see you on my screen again! Hope you don't have too many headaches planning the bridal showers. I'm so glad I managed to avoid that when my sisters got married..although I did have to wear a really bad dress for one of the weddings.
Good luck with your business! Wish you could be with us in Vancouver this June.

Wish I could be with you too - I have great memories of Vancouver version 1.0. Hopefully my control-freak mom will take over much of the shower thing leaving me to heartily consume cake and champagne!

Oh, I'm not surprised A's going for princess. Seems to me she's the kind of person who'd do that and be totally tongue-in-cheek about it... or maybe it's one of those "if I have to put up with HIS family then damn it I'm going just as all-out as they've been"?

Good luck with the shower. I have no idea of suggestions, since I've managed to avoid not only organizing, but ever attending. I can only recommend having lots and lots of alcohol ready. Not for the guests, but for you. I suspect you're gonna need it. Maybe some valium, too?

For the guests, in this case?

I always consider that my friends are good people because they have had to good sense to live in sin or to elope to the Courthouse in VA on their lunch hour to get married. But I think you are right about A. We're just treating this as a big ethnic event and all planning to totally go overboard in an ironic kind of way. At least I am. She was a bit upset when I told her about my 'wedding as cosplay' defense mechanism but she finally did understand that this was what I needed.

I'm hoarding champagne for the shower. Hopefully between that and being able to pass off as many of my duties as possible to my mother, things will go well.
