Funny thing is, the very end of this is great. In summary: "Actually none of this applies to me. My wife is awesome and I love and also respect her. It doesn't work that well for one of us to teach the other and it's true that now and then I need some time to myself away from family and then gym is that place for me, but really that's all it is."
So what pisses me off is not so much what he actually says in the article but that he apparently thinks it's fine for an otherwise good and well-meaning man to spew a bunch of sexist trash that he *doesn't even believe himself*. That kind of thing spreads collateral damage and I hate that he and his publisher apparently think this is the way to sell an article.
I agree with you. That's what makes me rage at the article so much. It's socializing their readers to think that it's okay to force women into a specific kind of exercise because anything else is man's domaine.
I also think the author can love and respect his wife and still be a misogynist when he gets beyond the front door. It's kind of like: "Oh hey, I have this black friend and he's okay, but you're a N---- "
I've seen quite a few posts poking fun at cardio bunnies here. I actually feel really bad for those girls. It's like they've been listening to too much of this crap, and it has become a part of their programming. I bet most wouldn't even think of crossing over to the other side of the gym.
Hurts all groups - the women who have to deal with men who think that way, the men who learn that this is acceptable and then don't understand why so many women don't like them. And the people who just want to lift and not have to deal with anyone else's attitudes and entitlement.
Yeah, Fox news definitely has made an art out of "If it bleeds it leads." In this case I think the story is massively hemorrhaging and leaving a bloody trail.
