*sniffles* Oh, this was one that pulled at the heartstrings! I thought you did a good job - and the idea that Mattie was Jayne's daughter is one that I definitely hadn't encountered often. Great story! :)

I've never encountered Mattie as daughter before. I really like the idea. This was so sad though. Such tragic circumstances. It was so well written though. Now, I really want to see a story where Mattie lives and Jayne gets to meet her. Or she comes to live with them on the ship, which requires meeting her, of course. :P I really like the idea of her.

I read a couple of fics where Mattie was Jayne's daughter, and I thought it would fit. I like the idea of Jayne being more responsible than he lets on.

You know, I didn't write them that way, but I think my other two fics for this challenge could be seen as sort of sequels... In 'Uninvited' River tries to get to that future but the time is not right yet, and she understands that and waits in 'Guns and Offspring'.
