I've never been a sports fan, so I never paid that much attention to sports team logos and mascots. Ugh, yes, it's an unfortunate fact. I have no interest in sports either, but when I do hear about teams with these mascots, it's always in the context of white people defending it to the goddamn death. Most recently and most digustingly, Rush Limbaugh (my dad had him on in the car, ew ew ew) saying on the subject that well you know the Native Americans had slaves and had war with each other and I was just like what the fuck kind of justification is that for a fucking racist caricature of them as your mascot?

I'm so fucking sorry to hear that you have to see that shit, that it exists, especially with it just popping up everywhere. I can't imagine how unsettling and disgusting that must be, how that could just ruin your day instantaneously, and how indeed it must be really hard for you to find anyone that you know for sure you could talk to about it :C It is hideous and inexcusable.

And, uh, hope you don't mind me popping in here! I just wanted to say hi ^^;

Oh, no, that's fine. I would have locked it if I didn't want comments.

Apparently we can add another item to the long list of things Rush Limbaugh is wrong about: He thinks an entire race must have a spotless record of perfect behavior for at least the past five centuries in order to deserve freedom from casual dehumanization. Because basic decency is something that has to be earned by a history of moral perfection.
