I will be opening commissions soon and I have a few questions about Paypal that I thought I would ask people here. I'm sure lots of people have sent or received money via paypal by now and might be able to answer my questions, where GOOGLE has failed me!

There's really no way to avoid fees unless you mark the payment as gift, and I am here to tell you DON'T DO THAT. Im not sure how much you will be charging but any amount of money is precious and if you list it as "gift" to avoid fees, and for some reason the art gets lost, or some other weird cirumstance, paypal will not help you. A gift payment can't be returned iirc, and it means that you don't have paypal on your side if the item is lost. So, don't do gift :)

Ohh, good to know. I mean, it's only fair, that I pay fees for using the pay pal service, I just hate that it's so much. And I know the fees get higher and higher for international use too.

Thanks for your input! :D

Also you can receive international money. Paypal has its own converter if you choose a different currency iirc. I did a few transactions with a gal in france and paypal changed her euros to dollars for me!

oops, I meant to comment here, lol.

That's great to know about the auto conversion! So, can I ask you, did you send your client an invoice via paypal? and that's how they paid you? I've done that before. Just wondering if there's another, better way?

And were the fees terribly high for converting the euros to dollars?

THANK SO MUCH :D
