WIP

I noticed yesterday while I was checking AO3 for new Thor stories, that there are so many WIPs that I'm reading that I couldn't really remember the plot of the story whose latest chapter was posted. I clicked on it and after a few minutes of perusal realized I had no idea what was going on and would have to go back and re-read eight chapters... ( Read more... )

I hate to say it, but I never read them. Ever. I just can't remember stuff-I have enough trouble trying to remember important RL things. :) Also, I've sworn off writing them, no exceptions. Lots of people do like them, but... I suspect they are people with more time for fandom than I have.

Wow, good for you-- I don't think I could write a multi-chapter story without reader encouragement. I think I'd be too daunted (at least with readers pressuring me, I know I'd finish).

I suspect they are people with more time for fandom than I have.

Yeah, when I had lots of free time this summer, all I did was read obsessively! but now that I have less free time, I'm finding it difficult to keep up.

I read work in progress stories; I find people who only read completed storys a bit silly for failing to encourage other writers.

It's true, reader encouragement is a huge part of why authors post WIP. I just hate it when authors write ONLY for reader-praise. Often times those are the stories that go on forever with winding plot lines that never get resolved.

thanks for your comment! :D

WIPs... I"m not so sure about them unless I love the author. Saying that, I've left a few open before I made myself post only completed works, and cannot get back into them to finish them.
