Fear and what it does to us...

I noticed I hadn't done an entry in a while...

I've been doing some catch-up time with my reading list, which is fairly long from months of accumulation and continued neglect, but I've finally managed to get back into reading, which used to be my favourite hobby before school and college gave me too much homework to deal with it all efficiently. I absolutely love that pic!!! I really need to finish watching Season 2 of Robin Hood. I got about halfway through the season.

I've read George Orwell's 1984 before. Its just been awhile since I've read it.

Oh noes! You simply have to see the rest of Robin Hood! I know it's crazy, historically inaccurate and completely unbelievable at times, but it is so worth watching just to see Gisborne and the Sheriff!

I just finished reading 1984 and have to say, it's been a very interesting read.

It is very good. Or should I say doubleplusgood? It's so thought-provoking and very intelligently written - no wonder it's a known classic.

Of course! Guy is the whole reason as to why people watch the show! But Vasey is very comical... I had many laughs watching him being a drama queen. :)

Great post, really makes you think. I have the luxury to live in a country that's been very calm on the terrorist front, but today we all get involved. And it is very easy to sway people in the wrong direction in so many ways - no clearly defined good or bad side any more.

I read 1984 back in 1984, actually. It is not a book you'll ever forget, is it! While it's indeed doubleplusgood, it's very sad too... Can never forget "the hero's" neighbours, how the daughter betrayed the father in the end and the father said he was proud. Just one of those moments (of many) that stuck in my mind.

The pic: aaaawwww, they are so cuuute. ;-)

I think most countries with the exception of America, are a little calmer about the whole terrorism thing. Even here in Britain, where there's been a few negative incidents, people don't seem to be too paralysed by fear. We can only hope that people will come to their senses.

It's funny that you should read 1984 in that year! I agree that it is very memorable, but sad also. Having read some real-life accounts of communist China during the time of Mao Zedong, I have to say that George Orwell was pretty accurate in his prophecising, as all those things like the daughter betraying the father did sometimes happen in real life.

And yes, Gisborne and the Sheriff are too cute! Seeing them together makes me think the world will be a better place. :D

There was a lot of talk about the book that year, quite understandably, and discussion where I live whether we were all "watched by Big Brither". In hindsight, it seems all very naïve, considering the era we live in now with cameras everywhere and everything you do online can be watched. *rolls eyes*

So you're British - well, your country have seen more than most of terrorism and handled it too. What we really must do, no matter what country, is "keep calm and carry on" as that famous poster says. :-)

Being governed by fear, real or imagined, is not a good option. It can take strange twists and turns too. I have a relative who worries about all horrible things she reads in the paper, while her whole life is falling apart. To me, that's odd... She's projecting the problem, I guess.

Oh, and yeah: the world would certainly be a lot more empty without those two darlings. ;-)

Btw: Big Brother, not brither. LOL.
