WOW! Eight and four, missus! How did that happen? (I keep wondering how I have an 11yo, not to mention the nearly 15yo and the 17yo!)

Holiday sounded lovely and I was blinking at the Boy only going in the sea for the first time at 8! I guess we Kiwis all start pretty young! ;-)

Lovely that you caught up with the L's and P!

And apples too!

I'm prettttttttty sure last time I looked at the kids they were still toddlers 0_o That said, every year they get further away from babyhood, the happier I am ( ... )

I must admit, I do remember how bloody cold the water was in Cornwall in August, so it does make sense you wouldn't be up for swimming much there - I think I only went in once the whole week we were there and it wasn't like the air was cold or it was horrible weather! And being as far from the sea as one can get makes some difference too, along with the non-aquatic parents!

The sea is definitely warmer over here, with pacific currents coming down from the tropics, and we have always been into getting wet, though Hubby is not a swimmer really (he just likes mucking about to cool down) and I'm not what one would call Olympic! I can swim reasonably though, and the kids all started swimming lessons before they were a year old, as it's pretty hard to avoid the water here so I was absolutely certain I didn't want anyone drowning! (Having said that, Hubby's mother didn't believe in lessons because the kids might drown {learning, presumably?}, which is why none of hers had any. Figure out the logic of that if you will!)
