I think your problem was upgrading your billing plan. You CAN always refuse, though they'll try and pressure you into changing.

What sort of stuff are you getting with your 90$ (and 4 years?! any contract I have is 2)?! I with Verizon and I pay just under 55$ a month with 500 texts and like, 450 minutes (with free nights, weekends, and all calls to other Verizon customers).

If you upgraded to a cool new phone that needs the internet to work, well, you may be SOL. I'd say it'd be worth heading back in to them (NOT on a busy Saturday or Friday night!) and talking with someone about how frustrated you are and how you're considering leaving. My guess is that they'll try and cut you a deal.

Do you have a smartphone? That would explain a lot.

Nah. I have an LG "Chocolate Touch." It's a touchscreen and it's nice but it's not really that high-falootin'.

Yup. A quick check on Verizon's website shows that the Chocolate Touch requires that extra $10/month data plan.

Also, Verizon's plans are some of the most expensive in the industry. If cost is an issue, it might be cheaper in the long run to pay the early termination fee and switch to a cheaper provider (TMobile is good), even if they do allow the contract to be changed.
