They get far too large to put in a tank as small as ours. We scrape the front, and let the snails take care of the rest. We are momentarily between snails, but we're going to PetCo today, and may get one. The problem is that the tank is next to a window, and a southern facing one at that, so it gets a lot of direct sunlight. I don't want to add anything to the water--something to take care of the algae in this case--that isn't absolutely necessary.
they don't get large in a small tank. mine didn't grow a whole lot but the tank was always super clean. they just mind their own business and keep shit clean.
