It makes sense, since the tickets are free and the BBC is a public company, but it's so disappointing. I tried to apply but my postcode wasn't accepted and I can't go on. I went to a live recording back in 2011, but that was only because a friend had ended up with a spare ticket. I hear they are very hard to procure :(

Yes, you have to rely on sheer luck to get a ticket. I was able to apply with the help of a friend who lives in the UK, I'm not holding my breath but you never know! *fingers crossed*
