I tried to make a friend.
I thought things were going well.
Due to circumstances outside my control, it did not work out.
I am hurting and angry and angry about hurting and feeling very awful about myself and generally unsure what to do with all these thoughts and feelings that I am having.

quick little update
I'm fostering kittens! This is a totally new experience for me, and I am already anticipating it being kinda weird to just send those kittens off to their forever homes, and probably to never hear anything about them ever again ( Read more... ) -

We finally got Duck eating her dinner again! Putting kibble in my bedroom for her got us partway there, and feeding her on the floor next to Tarball seems to have gotten us the rest of the way there. Which... surprises me a little. I guess she's more social than she likes to let on. I'm glad she's eating her gooshy again ( Read more... ) -

Ok, so I'm reading along in this "Fortress of Blank" series by C. J. Cherryh. I am enjoying it well enough, though it is not without it's problematic elements. Specifically, those one finds in nearly all "high" fantasy - everybody is white, and there are hardly any women. Racial tensions divide along lines of accent and having black or white hair ( Read more... ) -

Well, we did it
I'm living in Claymont, DE now. In an amazing house. Thanks to the help of friends and family, the POD is unloaded, and boxes are all on their various appropriate floors and general locations. The task of unpacking is one I plan to tackle as slowly as I damn well please. I hear it always takes years to get to those last few boxes, and that's fine ( Read more... )
