I always click to your articles and through the slideshows. I leave the articles up in my browser for more than 10 seconds, too, to ensure it counts as a solid hit.

I barely skim the text, however, and I never read your fiction.

If any of your fiction is published, though, I'll buy it...and still probably not read it.

It's not you, it's time, something I have none of.

Don't tell, but I've started handing the writing my friends have given me to my intern for coverage.

Apropos of something, I think I should editorialize for a moment and say:

The further fiction moves in the direction of experimentation, the further away it gets from simply being popular.

Think of it as a spectrum that runs from "the reader is kicking back and having easy fun" to "the reader is working to decode and analyze your art." It really is a spectrum, and you can make art that entertains as well as entertainment that is artful, in differing blends.

So if you care about who is reading your work and how much they enjoy it -- *especially* how much they enjoy it -- pay attention to where your work falls on this spectrum.

Here endeth my prattle.

Sure. I simply don't know who is reading and who is skipping. And feedback helps me. I always want to know what other people are seeing.
