I like that photo of the guy with the gun. Photos of people casually posing with guns are usually to my liking, lest they are really posed looking..menacing on purpose or whatever. Also, that modern looking house you posted photos of awhile back... I said I wanted to live there and you remarked how it was strange that I chose that house. I think it has to do with my romanticizing of 1950's America. It's some kind of fantasy in which I am a bachelor living in a very modern looking house. It ties into my fantasy of being an independent UFO investigator. Yes, at the end of the day I'd rather live in a cottage somewhere in the woods, but that house spoke to me immediately when I saw the photo of it and as such I immediately entertained my Golden Age of America fantasy.
I was just looking at a book that is from an exhibition on California design up right now at LACMA. NICE STUFF!
I actually feel both those impulses as well: the draw to the clean lines of 50's modernism, which is my ideal fantasy, but so ideal that in truth I think I would be forever nervous about mussing it up ... and then the places that are more core-me, which are raw, cabin-like spaces with a picture of a dog in a Tramp frame and well-worn coo-coo-clock-style furniture, as made by a lumberjack.
And yes, casual gun picks rule, especially interior ones and at the top of the list, shirtless and slightly greasy.
