And the last bit was AWESOME.
I don't know why but I particularly liked this line: The child looked exhausted, like he could curl up there on the ground with a tumbleweed for a pillow and sleep for days.
I can just picture that and it's lovely.

But yes. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, secret writer, for this fabulous, fabulous fic! It's absolutely gorgeous, and I can't decide on a favourite line because there're so many I adore. Loved the vivid, sweeping, descriptive imagery you've painted. Adored the characterisation too: it was intriguing, and certainly puts those precious glimpses of Famine and Pollution in the book in a rather interesting light.

I had an excellent feel of the dust and the wind and the creaking pipes and the rusty water...I want to go on but my words don't do yours justice. I'll risk being cliché and say that you made me feel like I was there (and in need of a bath myself.)
