I can't say for sure if this is usual for Somarium, but it often snows in parts of my home around this time.

It also snows where I am, though it's rare.

I find the suddenness of the climate change to be somewhat unusual, but I cannot say for certain that it is uncommon for Somarium.

It's kind of strange; we're surrounded by a desert, so the snow is very unexpected.

A desert? Unexpected is certainly an understatement. Surely a sandstorm would be more likely-- snow is the last thing I would expect.
