Hey, baby, there ain't no easy way out.

Honestly, I think that if the twins sent forth a bunch of their mis-quote quills to the Daily Prophet, there'd be better things coming out in the paper. What absolute rubbish. I'm trying to dredge up shock or outrage but I'll I'm feeling is vaguely jaded over the whole thing. It did, however, manage to print that I'll be back at work on Monday so ( Read more... )

Do I at least get an "I told you so"?

Maybe a "See, I could have gone and you still would have had me to blame for all this rubbish"?

Really, Gin, I'm sorry. I'll write the Prophet right now if you think it would help.

Can I at least make it up to you? I still owe you that celebration I promised.

Feel free to say 'I told you so' all you'd like. I'll just be 'out' of headache potions the next time you come home sotted.

It won't help so don't bother on my account. It's more insulting to you than it is to me. After all, I'm merely the conduit through which you've been exposed to the next 'Dark Lord'.

Ugh.

Going out sounds lovely. I get my cast removed tomorrow... So after that I should be ready for whatever you'd like to do. I'll still have to take it easy but the bones will have regrown.

Seeing as how I don't plan on making that mistake twice, I told you so.

It's nothing new, Gin. Like I told Ron, I've read worse. At least they aren't calling me the next Dark Lord. I don't wear black as well as Snape, apparently.

Whatever I'd like to do? That sounds promising. Tomorrow night. Wear your dress robes and pack a bag. Don't plan on being back until Friday, at the earliest.

Don't Are you When are you going back to the Twins' flat?

So you did. Well, with ammunition you might have a ghost of a chance of winning our next fight. I wouldn't put knuts on it though.

I think you look just fine in black, but, Harry, you really can't be Savior AND the Dark Lord. That's just greedy.

Alright, it's a date. Hmm, dress robes, hunh? I don't suppose you'll be giving out details.

Do you want me to leave? Well, not until after Friday since we'll be, er, elsewhere. Whenever is convienent. I suppose you'll be happy to have the covers back. Heh.

Oh, subtle, Gin

I'm sorry it turned out this way. If you need anything, you know where to find me. I've had quite a bit of experience dealing with the 'paranoid' over the last few years. (This is the part where you chuckle and insist you're fine as though I'm not nearly as concerned for you as Harry and just more adept controling it.)

Glamis and Zak are both offering their services as bodyguard should you need. I'm sure your brothers wouldn't mind letting Zak have a few days off. I understand he's quite taken with their invisibility solution.

Seriously though, Mad-Eye's not always wrong about that 'Constant Vigilance'. Unfortunately, the Prophet seems to be most adept at making things worse for all involved rather than reeporting actual news. Take care of yourself.

Well, I respect you too much to lie and say I'm fine. I will however tell you that I'm going to be better eventually and that I'm strong enough to deal with all of this. Thank you for the offer of aid.

Tell them thank you but I'd rather not go around with a bodyguard. I'll be a bit more on guard. I'm hoping it was an isolated incident but I'm not banking on it.

I will, thank you. You too. Give my love to the pack.

As it happens, we DO have a supply of MIS-Quote quills in that disturbing green shade Skeeter seems to prefer. Should I have some sent to the woman? Anonymously, of course...

Now, would I advocate something like that?

I think her mailing address is in the paper.

You? Never! Now seriously... ;)

I would think that the paper would at LEAST be smart enough to make sure that no one can send hate mail directly to SKeeter's house... But then... The paper DOES employ people like Skeeter...

Well.
What does one say in a situation like this?
Nothing about Snape Sorry about that, slip of the quill. Anyway, I do hope you're functioning all right, etc. etc.
Perhaps I should write some angry letters to the Prophet?
I don't know.
Just write back so I know you're all right.

Oh, hallo, Charlie. I'm doing alright enough, I suppose. A bit grumpy over the whole bloody thing but I'm recovering.

I don't know if angry letters would help or make it worse.

I'm getting much, much better, Charlie. I promise. Thanks for the concern. How have you been?

Perhaps I'll send some just to be safe-- not to mention, blow off some steam.

Glad to hear you're doing better. And that you promise it is so.
I've been--- besides everything with Tonks fine. Really. Although I can't promise anything.

I didn't want to be right, you know... didn't want to think I could actually have a good head in the game. Guess I do... god...
I've been fishing for sneaky fish... but in the meantime, I need to ask- are they allowing you to retake the test? Will you lose the job?

I want you to be extra careful now, do you hear me? and no I don't care about sounding like your mother... I am very concerned... and well, if you aren't safe during an exam.. When are you safe?? Well- with the exception of Grimmald...but still Ginny... don't make me do what I told you I would... I'll spy on you and you won't even know I'm there.

I care about you too much to see something stupid like this happen...again! The Prophet has it coming... trust me when I say this. They will learn to keep their trap shut soon.

I know you didn't, Tonks. It's going to be fine, I'll retake the potions exam and this time with an extra close eye on me, so no worries. My job and future is safe for now.

I will be extra careful from now on. If I live my life in fear they win, Tonks. I'll be cautious but I won't hide from the world or run around with 24 hour guard, I can't. I will take every reasonable precaution and a fair amount of paranoia thrown in.

You can talk to Harry about this. I told him everything so while he isn't happy, he isn't in the dark either.

What do you mean about them learning to keep their trap shut? Tonks, be careful.

Good- I'd have to storm St. Mungo's and demand they let you retake the exam, if they didn't already agree to it. To refuse you to retake would have made me go through the bloody roof!

Do you need someone to stand guard when you retake? They couldn't refuse an Auror to guard the testing, could they? You just know that I would be more than willing to be there- and take the next blow.... if it came down to that.

Well- I'm not saying to live like a fearful animal... just be more careful. It's the ruddy gossip you have to worry about. Bad publicity is still publicity- and bad words about you make people with weak minds think the way they are taught to think. You cannot help what you do- even if all you ever do it help- if it's talked about even in a small, slanderous way- people tend to take it to heart. The stupid one's anyway. Those are usualy the ones who act stupid and all ( ... )
