Congratulations on organic chemistry! Glad to hear that it worked out for you, although that grade distribution is a tad disturbing (I like the idea of adjusting marks on a case-by-case basis though, although I guess that may be the kind of thing they'd only do during the summer because there are fewer students?). And organic chem is my favourite kind of chem as well, but after hearing about the material, I'm kind of glad I won't have to take it.
And yup, the grade adjustment, I would imagine, only works for smaller classes like some summer and upper year ones. There were 128 people who started, but only 90 wrote the final exam, so it was a fairly small class. One source of the wonky grade distribution is probably how there were many people who failed both midterms, but decided to stick it through and try to pass the course, either because they figured they'd put too much work into it or they couldn't take it another time; that plan worked out only in about half the cases, whereas during the year I think many more people would just drop it and take it later if they were doing that badly.
