Title: The Stars From the Ground
Author: giddygeek
Pairing: Torchwood, Jack/Ianto
Notes: This one is for misspamela, who requested the Torchwood story I've been talking about writing since the new season started, because she's smart like that. When I said I'd try for 1000 words, what I meant was clearly that I'd write 2600 words. 2x1 spoilers--2x1 post-ep, really. ( Read more... )

"Maybe we'll go out improperly," Jack says, kissing him again before taking a step back, another, grinning. "I'm going to go before I very improperly ask if you're a first-date kind of guy."

"Wise," Ianto says, opening his door and hesitating on the threshold, watching Jack watch him. "Although hardly necessary."

Oh, oh, THEM. This is absolutely perfect -- unsure but adult Ianto, flirty-yet-kind-of-sad Jack, and that feeling of grabbing on to happiness while they can. I love this and I love them and I love YOU.

Yay, you liked it! I win! 'Ficlet' #1 is a success! *grins*

THEM, MissP. I LOVE them. And it doesn't seem to matter how many times I watch that asking-out scene in 2x1, it is never less awesome.

Thank you so much for requesting this and getting me off my ass about it! *gloms you*

God, it's like you were made for this fandom, seriously. You do such an incredible job of showing the emotion that's running underneath the glib, casual, sometimes-funny facade without losing the glib-casual-funny, which is really just vital for these characters. This is gorgeous and wonderful. :-D

Dude, I don't even know what it is about this fandom, but I really feel like my Torchwood fic is my best work in general. It's like this show was just made for me! With the humor, and the crack, and the OTT melodrama--so fun.

I'm so glad you liked this! Thank you very much! :)

*smishes you to Giddy bitlets*

Thank you so much! This is a lovely Ianto, and a not-entirely-assholic Jack who might possibly be learning from his mistakes, and very sweet.

LOL. I made bayleaf read it over for me, and she was like, "And Jack is not being an asshole! Yay!" Oh, Jack Harkness. <3 I'm glad you liked it! Thank you very much! :)

Thank you, this was a good intro to the crackiness that is Ianto/Jack for me! :-)
Quick question, will you be posting your story from the Surfacing zine? I'd love to read it. Your Rodney & John are always fantastic.

Yay, I'm glad you liked it! Jack and Ianto are awesome--Torchwood is SO much fun! :)

The Surfacing zine story--I actually don't have a final copy anymore, I lost it in a crash between one computer and the next. I'm sure I have a copy in email somewhere or could get one from stormheller, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Sometime soon! Thank you for asking, I'm flattered to hear you're on the lookout for it. *G*

LOVE! Love love love.

"Not as pretty as me," Jack says. "Not as beautiful as the first time you kissed me."

Oh, Jack.

"Did you mean it?"

"Yes," Ianto says. He has always meant it; he has never said yes to Jack without meaning it wholeheartedly.

Jack's smile warms, brightens, his face going young and sweet for a moment.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I would like to subsidize your career as professional TW fic writer. Except I have no money.

Heeheehee! I wish I had money! Then I would spend all my time writing Torchwood fic! Well, and a couple other fandoms. *g* Blast the universe that does not just hand me winning lottery tickets all the time (it would probably help if I bought them!)

Thank you so much, also. I'm really glad you liked it! :)
