Though the Constitution mentions nothing about the creation or existence of political parties, said parties unfortunately exist in America. Conversely since there is no mention in the Constitution or laws restricting the number of political parties, we technically could function very well as a multi-party society. Which is valid. Thomas Jefferson put it rightly when he wrote, "I am no believer in the amalgamation of parties, nor do I consider it as either desirable or useful for the public." Remember the founding fathers never meant this to be a nation run by two parties. The Constitution actually sets up a nonpartisan system in which votes are cast for individuals, not parties. You're a good man regardless. :o)

That's an interesting quote. I believe the last time a nonpartisan administration was attempted was when Adams was President and Jefferson was VP. It lasted about a week.

Oh, and for the record, I'm a progressive pragmatist.
No party for me :(

My beliefs are consistent with Democrat, which is how I voted. However, I don't belong to a party right now.
