The second one is worse. It is me up until about a year ago and even though I'm busting my ass now, I will always wonder what could've been if I had tried harder and got those A's instead of settling for the B's.
yea. i slid thru undergrad using about 50% effort. i thoroughly enjoyed my time there and, in that way, i dont regret it. but when i see other people's resumes now with "magna cum laude" and "honors society" on it, i feel like mine's nekkid. even if it's theirs is from an unknown school, i still feel a wee bit of "what coulda been...?"
Completely. That extra 50% of effort for just a 10% increase in grades just didn't seem to make sense back then. Looking back, 50% for 10% still isn't worth it, but maybe a little more due dilligence on my part might have been beneficial. Oh well. 20/20 hindsight, right? At least we realized now, and not 50 years from now, that effort is good. :)
yea, but it's hard to say how much more effort it wouldve taken to get those A's. i remember figuring out in econ class that putting in the a whole lot of extra effort might not be worth it via marginal rate of returns theory. or maybe i just cling to that theory as a justification of my actions.

that's always the worst, because if you did give 100% you might have done what you wanted, but since you didn't, you'll never know.
