Given the success of "Apocalypto", imagine how much more popular a similar movie set in slightly more familiar Europe would be. I suppose I should warn of spoilers.

( Unfortunately, no satire can be as amusing as the movie itself )

Are you comparing my post to 30 or so minutes of static that the government decides to keep secret since knowledge of that time differential might shake civilization to its core?

You could accomplish the same thing by splicing scenes from various period costume dramas with shock-horror movies.
