Nah, it's all right. I got home earlier than I thought I would so it was fine. :)

Wow. WOW. Combat-heavy episode...very cool. I'll admit it, I got a little bit of an adrenaline rush. I was worried about the boys.

Christ almighty, will the world please stop fucking with Fick? And Brad, I know you're upset because Nate snapped at you last week but that's no excuse to take that tone with him now. Please, just go into the back of the command vehicle and fuck work things out, okay? It's obvious that things do not go well for the platoon when the two of you are like this.

Encino Man, Captain America - no love from me. NONE. That is all.

Also, Walt...jeez, dude, jeez. Get some sleep, buddy. You're getting buck fever.

In conclusion: how awesome was Fick for directing traffic with bullets whizzing past him?

I don't like Fick like this. You can tell that he wants to lead the way he thinks is right, not the way that will get Encino Man off his back.

It's painful. You can see him wanting to do the right thing, trying to do the right thing...but the right thing isn't necessarily what the chain of command wants done. It's the Marine Corps way or the highway.

Fick's broken idealism, they are showing it to us.

He and Brad need to make some eye contact sometime. They need to connect with each other, because Fick is slipping into a hole he won't be able to get out of.

Hm.

Am I the only one that didn't care for this episode? I dunno ... it just wasn't satisfying. I know the war's getting more serious now and stuff, but I don't think the episode went about the right way of showing it. :/

eta the scope on Brad's rifle is fucking badass. and I have this strong connection with Walt now that I know the actor is from Connecticut. WAAAALT ♥

I'm beginning to think that might be because of the director, actually. He's got a different approach and I feel like under his influence the characters are taking turns that...I don't know...they wouldn't otherwise? Maybe it's just the subject matter.

It all feels so...frustrating. And I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I'm feeling that along with the boys in Bravo. Once you get past the "whoa, cool combat scene!" buzz, what's left? Some unexplored issues and my favorite guys being put through crap? But then, I guess that's life. Or something like it.

I don't know if it's the director, because I loved last week's episode. Just something about the way this was done made it seem more focussed on the action than the feelings of the men. This is difficult to explain, but it's like the personal connection was lost and the what replaced the why.

Could be the detached feeling was intentional. Things made some kind of sense up until the past two episodes. Even last week, there was a sense of, "What the hell is going on and why are we here?" The further they move inward and hit more largely populated civilian areas, the more confused they seem to become. Now they have to contend with the fact there are jihadists from outside of Iraq in the mix.

Amazing! My love for this show increases every time. I just really need for Brad and Nate to makeup (make out? yes please) soon.
Was I the only one cheering when Nate stood up to Casey Kasem? That was awesome.

Oh, I fucking loved that part. I also really appreciated the little bit with Brad being irate about Nate being called a coward.

OMG did I miss that part with Brad? I had to get up during it and of course HBO doesn't have commercials! D:

It was very quick, right when Brad walked over to Pappy and Sgt. Eric Kocher. Did you see the part where they raised their drinks to Afghanistan? It was right before that.

Is Encino Man retarded, for serious? Or just super incompetent? What the hell was with him and the, "Thank you for taking the radio out of my hands. GO YELLOWJACKETS?" Really ... whut? And who was the dude who came up to him on the bridge? It looked like he got out of a Charlie company humvee, was that Charlie company commander? Hard to tell who some of these guys are in the dark ( ... )

Haha I was dying when Encino Man was like "This is the endzone! WHOO!". I really wouldn't mind if someone friendly-fired his ass.

I actually went, "What the fuck?" when he did that. And started dancing or whatever. I almost fully expected a tracer round to hit him square in the back at that point. Thank God for small miracles, yanno?

Makes you wish there was someone around fumbling with hand grenades.
