I do Not remember this fic, and I'm sure I would if I had read it before.

I'm so glad you re-posted it here, because it is powerful stuff. I think you've caught the otherness of Illyria better than I've ever read before.

I read it now and I see a lot of flaws, but there are some bits in there that I can't believe I've written. :)

There are more than bits that are powerful and effective. You wrote it when you were in a very bad place if memory serves.

It wasn't a great place but it wasn't my lowest, it's about a year after that. Anyway, it's more about the language. I'm very proud of bits of this. Shame the POV drifts a bit and it gets a bit rambly in places (but then that's my writing in a nutshell!).

It reminds me of stuff I wrote for my degree - a lot of that I don't even understand how I ever wrote it, I can barely understand it now!

I remember this excellent study of Illyria. Thanks for posting and reminding us of what she was. If we'd got a Season 6, I doubt Joss would have stayed true to the character we saw in the few episodes in which she appeared.

I think that goes for Joss and all the characters. I would still have liked some more Illyria though. :D

Not if Joss was hell bent on turning her into a clone of Fred and 'redeeming her' through the love of a good man Wesley. Unless he sent her off to join the Immortals now that I could understand.
