I went with my sister tonight to her friend's youth group. It was pretty interesting. They had a special discussion over prop 8 tonight. The people were pretty nice. We may go again

I'm not a Californian, but if you're having trouble with Proposition 8, try thinking of it like this:
Does the government really have the right to legislate a personal decision?
If you aren't gay and aren't for gay marriage, there is no law that is going to keep you from marrying a straight person. It's not the same if you're gay.
I realize I might not convince you at all, but you should know that I'm completley for as much liberty as possible--including the right to marry whoever whenever.
Yeah, I totally agree with that, but someone brought up a good point last night that if anyone can get married, that kind of just reduces it to a contract
( ... )
Well, the bible also condemns shellfish eaters and those that wear mixed fibers...
I understand that people might not be for gay marriage themselves, I'm totally down with that. But I think it's important to remember that not everyone shares the same beliefs--and one of the benefits of living in this country is that we're supposed to be able to have our own beliefs without worrying about government infringing on them.
Thanks for at least considering it, though--so many people won't even think about it and it's the most frustrating thing, ever.
Yeah. That's why I'm reluctant to form an opinion either way before looking into it.
I'd honestly be all for just letting them get married- I'd actually happily want them to, not just "tolerating" it- if it weren't for a lot of people around me always bringing up the whole "well, the bible says..." thing.
Again, it comes down to me just being confused about homosexuality in general. I even like reading Shounen Ai and stuff! And I love my gay friends... It's just hard when half the people I know are going Yes on prop 8! and the other half are going No on prop 8! OTL (of course said people are also homophobes >->)
Congratulations on the driving thing! It's exciting that your dad is actually going to DO something for once.
And speaking of working at Disneyland: 1) Do you think she's Carpool with me too? I mean, I live closer to her than you do and then I'd be able to pick up some of the Driving slack until you get your licence/car.
2) I thought that they weren't hiring for Rides. That's what my friend said and she JUST applied...... D:

Yeah, probably. She just said that if I'd drive to her house she'd drive me.
