Jury duty: aaaarrrrrgh.

Aug 19, 2004 21:19

Well, it's jury duty for me tomorrow: I requested a specific day, so I have to show up at the Ventura County Courthouse at 8 o'clock in the morning. Ugh. On the negative side I can't really afford to miss work: there is just TOO MUCH TO DO before school starts, and I'll miss a day or two setting up my office again as it is. And my new computer, if ( Read more... )

Enjoy jury duty. Use the time sitting around doing nothing to do something useful, like write more of this!;-)

Hee! Actually I did write another drabble (off an old theme at Black Pearl Sails), began an outline for the plot of another Harry & the Pirate story (my long fics, which are on ff.net), made a flowchart for my new website I've finally started constructing, did some reading, took a nap, and shopped for shoes at lunchtime (unsuccessfully). Very productive day, considering.

Oh! I'm glad you liked the 'Beginnings' drabble, too.

Have fun at that party! Sounds like a blast. What a culture shock for the exchange student, eh? But ladymora will take care of him: she's the nurturing kind. :)

Jack-as-innocent always gets me. Every time.

Yes, me too. In my canon, he comes from a fairly good background and things happened in his life that eventually turned him to piracy. He's more interested in adventure than treasure for its own sake, though. That's what I get from the movie, anyway.

Glad you liked the piece!

on the jury duty. I've never found it to be a barrel of monkeys, but OTOH should I ever be in court, I'd like to think there are decent responsible people out there as jurors!

Liked the drabble-and-a-half. ;-) I'm still interested in potential collab at some point, btw, but right now all my muses have gone into hiding, except the Lecture!Muse who is tromping around my brain in big boots. Ew.

Oh, indeed a collaboration would be interesting, but I totally understand about needing to indulge the Lecture!Muse. It is the beginning of the school year.

I didn't get picked, and they let us out of the courthouse at 3 PM--highly unusual. Am home, going to answer email, then go swimming! (Joy!) I did bring home a mountain of stuff to type for my boss, and then there's all my personal paperwork, the spare room to clean out, and I'm going to the Hollywood Bowl tomorrow night with my niece, gingersnapps (a Disney concert--should be fun). And then, at the courthouse, I wrote another drabble, outlined the beginning of another Harry & the Pirate story, and made a flowchart for my website, which I started constructing last night.

There are just not enough hours in the day.

Don't you know that it's probably illegal to accomplish something worthwhile when you're on jury duty? *grin* Sounds like a very productive day, all things considered.

Out of sheer curiosity, what's the Disney concert?

Cute kitty icon btw!

Oooh! I like your kitty, too! Mine's a Laurel Burch picture--she is my favorite (or one of the top five, anyway). I have two framed, signed posters of hers in my office at school.

Here's the link to the Disney concert.

I *love* that. Seems we agree on Jack/Bill in a way that goes beyond the whole to-slash-or-not-to-slash thing. This is *exactly* how I see their relationship beginning. And maps *too*!
*Happy dance*

Right. Time to pull myself together and Get Some Work Done.

I do think the slash is optional when writing them, though I do love the problematic relationship in your J/BB fics. All my Bootstrap stuff was written before the sequels came out, of course, which makes the characterizations a little different.

Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed this!

Sweet! Love Bill's view of him, and what a glimpse! He didn't look like much, the crooked smile, the direct gaze and then Jack's shiny confidence: "I know ships."

Indeed!
