I'm seeing several posts on Social Media regarding this being the first time Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday have been on the same day for over 50 years.

I would like to share that I was not aware -- or at least fully aware -- of Ash Wednesday until I was in my late 20s.  (GASP! say the Catholics reading this.)

We watched the season finale of Star Trek Discovery.  I felt it was one of the better episodes of the season and, to me, it felt more "Star Trek" than many of the other episodes.  One reviewer I read had pretty much a polar opposite opinion.  If you have been watching the series, go see the final ep and see what YOU think.

One of the most-used buttons on our TV remote control is the MUTE button.  I rarely listen to the audio of TV commercials.  M has picked up my habit and tends to mute commercials, too.  When we're at someone else's home I hold an imaginary remote in my hand and my finger keeps hitting the MUTE button as our hosts just leave the commercials playing ( Read more... )

We went out for pizza on Saturday night.  This is somewhat unusual for us -- Friday night is our traditional pizza night.  But neither of us was very hungry Friday night *AND* since many people will be eating pizza on Sunday night during some game, we figured fewer will want to have pizza on Saturday night, so places will be easier to get into.  We ( Read more... )

Those of us in the U.S. now have the option of getting an email from the United States Postal Service in advance of getting our daily mail.  As I understand it, the email shows scans of the outsides of envelopes bound for one's mailbox.  It's called Informed Delivery, and it's free!

We have seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  We have now watched the second-from-last episode of the season of Star Trek: Discovery.

The word "awesome" is much overused.  That's probably largely because people use it as a response to anything and everything, so it's ingrained in our language...so, when someone asks how something was, the response too often is "Awesome!"  That, I feel, diminishes the strength of the word and minimizes something that is truly awesome, such as a ( Read more... )
