Birfdayness

Thanks to everyone who left me birthday wishes in my last post, it was really nice. I had a fairly decent day. I woke up earlyish so I decided to have a treat and made pancakes for me and my mother as it was her birthday too. They were very nice, even though there wasn't quite enough oil for them. The postman only brought me a bank statement ( Read more... )

Happy belated birthday :-)

My first real job was at a Breugger's Bagels. I wish we could get strawberry cream cheese in the UK - all of my attempts to make it have failed.

Thank you :)

I quite like Breugger's but I've not tried much of their menu, just the Leonardo di Veggie and I had an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich once which was okay. Their menu is quite good though, I'll have to see about trying some more of it!

I saw the strawberry Philadelphia in the supermarket last time I was there, along with a berry one. I wasn't really sure how I felt about either of those. There's certainly more varieties of that in the US than here. There used to be a salmon one which was perfect on bagels but it got discontinued after a while much to my disappoinment.

We had a yummy chicken salad which could be served wet (mixed with mayo) or dry. I loved it dry with this southwestern salsa we had, which was basically spicy tomato salsa with sweetcorn. My lunch was often just a bowl of that with the salsa on top. Unfortunately, both came premade, and I've never been able to replicate them.

Strawberry cream cheese is awesome on toasted sesame bagels. Try one next time!

I love sesame bagels, they are my favourite kind. Maybe I'll have to be daring and get the strawberry kind next time I'm there!
