My plans for the next few weeks:

--Create an EPIC comic book version of BEOWULF.
--Make some mixtapes.
--get in touch with friends who I have not written or called in too long.
--Figure out when I stopped being like a wicked nice person.
--Listen to Joni Mitchell a lot, since I just found about four records of her in my attic.
--Read lots of books, ( Read more... )

joni mitchell is probably my favorite music artist of all-time. i wrote a research paper about her for foisy. that's how much i love her. you know the song "little green?" it's on blue, i think. that's about giving her daughter up for adoption. they are friends now, i guess (her and her adopted daughter, that is). i grew up on joni mitchell records; we didn't have cd players until i was like nine or something like that. do you have the album miles of aisles? it's live, and it's beautiful. i love this speaking piece she has on it, about the difference between singing and every other kind of art. "you know, nobody ever said to van gogh, 'paint starry night again, man.' he painted it and that was it." wow, i love her. haha this diatribe is a little too long. anyway, my fav joni songs are "river," "a case of you," and "cactus tree." i like the versions on blue best of river and a case of you, but i like the miles of aisles version of "cactus tree." and also! "the last time i saw richard." it's pretty great. ummmm sorry to babble on like ( ... )

No! don't feel bad for "babbling," there are definitely singers/bands that I could go on and on about, and I think it's awesome that there are people who feel the same way. The albums I have are "Blue", "Ladies of the Canyon," "Court and Spark," and "Clouds." I have only Listened to Blue and the first side of ladies of the canyon, though, since I just found them today.

Also, I think it's pretty cool that you never used to have CD players. Lately I have just been listening to records and mixtapes that are actually on tapes, because my CD player broke, and I don't really miss it.

Dan

P.S. I also found, in this trove of old records, "Like a Virgin" by madonna, which is sweet. ummm just thoguht you should know, haha.Peace,

I also have to get started on mailing you a letter, because I clearly haven't in several months. I haven't really sent any letters to anyone, which is lame.

Beo is definitely the man. That's seriously the one book I've enjoyed this year in AP english which is a class that generally stinks.

I have had them since september of my sophomore year, so I haven't had them for an absurdly long time, but it's still definitely time for them to come off. I really think that it will feel as though I'm getting shackles taken off that I had on for two years or something like that.
