On Criminal Minds and other watchable TV

So, over the past month or so, Morte and I have spent evenings watching the first um... 70+ episodes of Criminal Minds. Excellent show, from start to finish. I really have to force myself away from details in movies. Too often Tina has to Shush me in theatres or watching a DVD when I go off on a tangent where they either got a particular detail really right (in a way that surprises me since most people don't d the level fo research) or get things really wrong.

I don't get why movie and TV companies routinely grab on an idea that has worked in the past and change it all around. The re-imaging these days mostly doesn't work. Some great ideas... like the Tinman mini-series, would have been great ideas as films, but as re-imaging of things they flopped.

I love the show Criminal Minds -- especially the genius kid with the photographic memory. I agree with you regarding Merlin. I was very disappointed in it.

Do you like campy shows? I have the entire Xena series on DVD if you'd ever like to borrow it.

I really enjoyed Xena! I've seen most of it, along with most of Hercules. Now that's revisionist television done RIGHT! It was entertaining, bold, funny, it never took itself too seriously. Of course, it was a Sam Raimi production, and I love everything he's done ( ... )

The Mentalist is great however I'm a bit biased since I'm a licensed Clinical Hypnotherapist and much of what he does are things I know how to do. Cool!

Haven't seen any of the other shows you mentioned although would like to see the Tudors at some point. It didn't get very good reviews though.

I loved the original Battlestar Galactica series and haven't checked out the newer versions. Same with Star Trek. I could never get into the ones after the original...
