A Nice Weekend in Paris

The weekend in Paris was lovely, one of the nicest weekends away I have ever had, I think. The weather was beautifully warm and clear, so was completely comfortable in sandals and a shirt, with no jacket. Friday evening was positively balmy, and we wandered pleasantly around Canal St Martin, eating sushi and drinking beer until about 2 am. ( Read more... )

See, you keep coming here and NOT GIVING A SHOUT! Your fault if I don't take you to Lafayette's old house, complete with parquet de Versailles & wainscoting, for tea.

(Exotic? Monoprix? What exactly????)

It was a rather rushed visit, but I'm hoping to get over for a bit longer in the spring when my knee is fixed. Lafayette's house sounds intriguing - I'm beginning to come to the reluctant conclusion that you can get better tea in Paris than here.

The biscuits are only relatively exotic, I suppose, but I can't find those nice little buttery sables bretonnes over here (with or without their missing accent, so I stocked up.

Pleased you had such a great time, it does sound wonderful and Paris is definitely best when the sun shines :-) Your picture really sums Paris up, tree lined and bridges :-)

Good luck with Joint School. When is your op?

The operation is next Tuesday, so I'm trying to get the flat in order now before I go in.

Yay for good weekends!
That monkey coat really is quite amazing.
That photo is a bit Amsterdamish, also, minus the canal boats.

OK. Now you MUST talk about Joint School. Seeing that my own joints will probably have to go to school point, I am very curious indeed.

I loved the monkey coat, but suspect the monkey itself didn't like it! There was a lovely little painted panel of 18th century monkeys having a picnic in the same display case.
