Getting on with it (and yet another picture out of my window)

Stuff continues to happen, but none of it is especially interesting. Mostly what I want to do lately is sleep, work and work my way through the local library's collection of DVD box sets of series that I never caught completely on TV. This week I've been mostly watching a rather odd combination of Cranford (quality BBC period stuff, with Judi ( Read more... )

In the winter, when I planted up the windowbox, I put in the heathers and a lot of chionodoxa bulbs, and I also planted the pots the heathers had come in with more of the same bulbs. For some reason, I can only find two of the three pots, but I should be able to replace the heathers with them and maybe another pot of the little daffodils.

You have flowers? In your windowboxes? Already?

Egad.

The view out my window is still snow, ice, blown snow in drifts, with more snow scattered here and there, and the weekend forecast calls for lows of -18.

Sigh.

The windowbox is a bit ahead of flowers in gardens, but not by much. For some reason, the little sort of daffodils that I have here flower earlier than the normal regular ones.

It's definitely spring here now - it was as if a switch was turned last week, and suddenly the temperature was in double figures, and everything was starting to green up. The only appreciable snow we had was a fall of about six inches, which paralyzed the city, of course, and was the worst we'd had in nearly twenty years. It was all gone withing a week.
