This was lovely. Funerals make such odd things happen. Emotions run so high and things just come out of people sometimes. Sorry - all that to say I really enjoyed this. Well done.

I love this as a tribute to family, but this blew me away:

as much as she mourned the loss of her dad, a part of her grieved even harder for the loss of a friend she’d known for centuries

That's just... wow. Poor, poor Sam.

Poor Sam indeed, but don't worry. Later the boys make her a mountain of blue jell-o which, as we all know, makes everything immediately better. :)
