So I came to stalk you, after quite a while, I know! because I loved "Queer as the Fork..." and hearing you are thinking of extending it makes me swoon, seriously, I found the whole world you drafted in barely 3000+ words so fascinating I ended up reading McKinley's "Beauty" to see if it was the B&B story that I liked (it didn't work, naturally). So... anyway, I would love to see more of it if it ever comes to you, I will go see what else you got in here that I know anything of :)
As Beauty might say, "Cool." With some sort of smile that grows kudzu from the inside and blooming to get out.
McKinley's "Beauty", that's actually the reason for the passing reference to the library in the story. Although, the wing backed chair where they tangle - old gold velvet - sits stained and comfortable before my fireplace with not nearly that many books.
At the moment, the hard part feels like not writing "Fork" into a novel. Writing this, I just had this odd thought about the arm lamps from Cocteau's "La Belle et Le Bete". Possibly too creepy for "Fork." We'll see once the ghouls have their say.
As to the world, well, slipping into it was easy given that I've been writing there for quite awhile. What I meant above by a "City" story is that a number of my stories are set in "The City", which I imagine as sort of the mother of Cities with all sorts of mythologies mashing. I'd say the current thing is set there, except that they're road tripping.
In any case, I hope your stalking proves fruit-full.
