I worked on GR stuff all day Saturday and Sunday, and then treated myself to a show last night as a reward. Tiger Army and the Street Dogs were playing at Neumo’s and I could not resist. Thursday night Nik and I went to see the Subhumans at El Corazon. It took four times seeing them but they finally played “Ex-Teenage Rebel”, the song for which this blog is named. Woot. It was the 1981 Halloween show of Saturday Night Live. Fear, a punk band from California, was set to be the musical guest. Ian MacKaye, of Minor Threat and Fugazi fame, was one of the punks brought in to dance during the performance. He relates the strange story of how it happened ( Read more... )

On seeing the news about Jerry Falwell dying today, I was immediately seized with the urge to hear the Dead Kennedys song "Moral Majority". I have the vinyl, of course, but that wasn't going to do me any good at work. I brought in some CDs to work this week so I could rip some new music into my I-Tunes. It's amazing how even a robust collection of music can get tired after a couple of months.
