This was beautifully bittersweet and poignant. You have an amazing skill with creating a genuine 'Mittle Earth' atmosphere, speech patterns and A/L chemistry. Getting the Tolkienish 'feel' right is hard, but you are definitely succeeding :)
I have to admit I have not read any of your other fics yet, but I will definitely do so from now on.

Though I'm not sure I quite have a handle on the Tolkienish feel (I just try, and hope the words come out the right way), I'm delighted that you thought it felt right.

For some reason, this has been lingering in my bookmarks for YEARS - probably because of the bittersweet ending. In need to be in a certain mood for those stories, because they tend to depress me (I want my boys to be *happy*).

And still, this is beautiful. It actually makes me want to reread all your A/L stories:)
