I wasn't sure about the mix of sweet and sour at the end, myself, but I suppose, if you read it with mangaverse goggles on, it can still be hopeful!

That was what I was taking it for, but also bittersweet - even with mangagoggles on, I have a fear that Al will come home without Ed.

That really is the mix the anime and the manga has left in my brain, when all is said and done. The manga really has been nothing but sweet to my favorite couple, whereas the anime, well...

Thank you! :)

That last part is just lovely, and I love how realistic the whole thing is. My favorite part is the first, of course (I'm a sucker for the chibi-Trio), but all of them were beautiful.

I love it when people remember how strong Winry is (and not only because she knows how to wield a wrench!), and how she has a life in Resembool even when the boys are gone. The bit about her and Ed holding hands long after they should've let go is too cute for words.

Thank you SO MUCH for writing this!

I've always had a weakness for the Resembol Trio, myself, and I really think that Winry is one the strongest characters I've come across even in general fiction, which is why I like her so much. Despite losing her parents and having to grow up long before her time, she maintains an optimistic attitude and does her best to help others, and though she loves Ed, that love doesn't define every fiber of who she is (I've really never understand all the Winry-haters out there....she's really an amazing character!)

I'm so happy that you enjoyed the ficlet- it was a pleasure to write, and I hope I did your prompt justice!
