[In the mornings, Ed worked a half day reshelving books and sorting the card catalog. Working part time provided enough for him to live and eat while still giving him enough time to attempt reeducating himself in whatever insane natural laws governed this strange place. What helped the most, of course, was working in the place he'd be spending all ( Read more... )

[Rei had been busy. Even after Indy had gone to bed, she spent hours scouring the 'cook book', trying to decipher the recipes and notes in to something that made sense. It was difficult, though, but it wouldn't stop bothering her, even as she tried to get some sleep herself.

She work early for having gone to bed so late, long before Indy was ever due to wake up for his first shift at the library, and snuck out quietly. Once at the library, she approached the desk.]

Um. Excuse me? Sorry to bother you, but you wouldn't by any chance know if there are any more books by Dr. Marcoh, would you?

[Ed looked up and blinked. It took him a moment to realize he was staring at the girl and shake himself slightly.]

Er, Marcoh, I'm not sure but it should be easy enough to look up...

[Ed comes around the counter and leads her over to the card catalog. He flips open the first M drawr and flips through cards.]

Yeah, Tim Marcoh's "1000 Flavors for Today's Menu." Wow, it looks like there's 20 volumes, those must be some really detailed recipes...

Er... Your name isn't Mustang, is it?

R-really? I wasn't expecting there to be so much! That's gonna take a hell of a lot longer to go through...

[at his question, she pauses and blinks, wondering once again if she really does look so similar to this other Mustang people keep talking about.]

... yeah. How'd you know that?

Er, you just kind of look like somebody I know. Thought maybe you're related to him. I mean, he doesn't have a daughter in the world I come from, but infinite possibilities, I suppose.

[Winry hoped this was the right library. This had to be the right library. The mechanic purposely sought out this particular library, hoping for the particular Ed that had invited her into his apartment. She wasn't stalking him, nooooo. She did have a present for him, though. As a sign of her gratitude.

Thinking it might be a bit weird to go up to a service desk and ask for Ed, Winry started to walk through the aisles looking for him.]

[Ed was reshelving the books that he'd checked back in when he spotted Winry. He smiled. He was starting to get the hang of telling them apart.]

Hi again. Looking for something?

[The sudden voice interrupting the quiet of the library scared Winry. She gasped, jumped a little, and almost dropped what she had brought for him. The blond girl spun around to look the boy in the eye, and return his smile. In her arms she carried an apple pie, warm and fresh.]

You scared me!
Actually, I was looking for you.

Sorry!

Oh, well, I guess you found me. I have to finish putting these away, but I'll be done after that.
