What should I do about a student who is progressing fine, but always looks utterly depressed, never speaks to anyone and answers friendly questions with a monosyllable? Ah, so that's what you've been up to ;)

The guy who seems depressed, well, he might just be a miserable sort. I reckon it's worth a bit of investigation even if his work is fine- seems a bit strange if he responds to no one at all ever.
