I think what's amazing about Landa, besides everything, is that he actually makes you like him, the suave bastard :P.

YES! OMG, it is alarming how in love with him I was by the end of the film. I mean, he was such an awful human being, and yet I found him to be utterly delightful and endearing in his own way. I think it helps that the good guys of the film weren't exactly noble heroes, and while Landa was a bad dude, he also had a certain sense of honor, something that the Basterds didn't really have (and this actually ended up being his downfall since he expected the Basterds to honor their word).
